For the second week running, WHR had to work hard to get 2 points. In
what was a mainly scrappy, and sometimes nasty and bad-tempered game,
WHR managed to come out on top.
The first half was fairly even, with WHR having the better of the
chances. Neither goalkeeper was really tested, but better finishing from WHR
could have put them into the lead on a couple of occasions.
Both sides made substitutions during the second half, and the game started to open up. WHR put together some good passing moves, but Barham continued to break them down to regain possession. WHR finally broke the deadlock after the ball had been knocked around the Barham penalty area and the keeper had made a good save, only for the ball to be headed into an empty net. Barham tried hard to get the equaliser, and created a number of chances towards the end of the game. (Note: The atmosphere of the game was spoiled by a section of the crowd, and some of the players, continually questioning and criticising the decisions of the 'stand-in' referee.) |
