A spirited start from Walkington gave Filey a difficult opening fifteen minutes. Both
teams managed early strikes at goal, but Walkington were producing the more constructive
and attacking football, when a route one goal from Filey stunned them, it has to be said
against the run of play, in these early stages. After a spell of pressure in the Filey
goal mouth, Filey keeper Haxby claimed the ball and realeased a long kick to Filey striker
richard Ossai, who having only the Walkington keeper to beat, slotted the ball home.
From this point, Filey settled into the game and started to take control. Jordan Powell
had a goal ruled offside minutes later, but Matthew Gill made it two, after he intercepted
a cutting pass from Ossai. Ossai went on to complete his hat trick in the second half, as
did Jordan Powell. Gill managed a second goal and ryan Marsh also managed two goals, as
the game developed into a rout.
Worth a mention are the efforts of Jordan Powell and Lalan Flynn. The work rate of these
two during the game was phenomenal, as they never stopped running, Flynn especially
producing some excellent crosses in the second half of the game.
With only seconds remaining on the clock, a goal mouth scramble ended in a consolation
goal for Walkington, as their striker Luke Hadfield Slotted the ball home.
