Top of the table Kingburn Tigers played Hedon Rangers Barca in this under 14's Drypool
clash. Straight from the kick off Kingburn went on the attack and within mins Nicky
Thacker shot in from a tight angle for Kingburns first goal. With Kingburns Mike Wise,
Aaron Fairburn, Nicky Thacker and Jamie Wright dominating the midfield Hedon could not
contain Kingburn and top goal scorer Mike Johnston scored the next 3 goals giving him his
hat trick. Just before half time Kingburn where awarded a penalty which was well stuck
into the top left by Mark Scott. Half time score 0 -5.
The second half was more evenly matched with Hedon now playing good football but Kingburns Karl Hodgson curled a shot into the top left corner making the score 0 - 6. Hedon's Danny Pomone made a good run and powered the ball past the diving Kingburn keeper 1 - 6. This shook Kingburn who now stepped up a gear and with further goals from Johnston who now has 26 goals from 9 matches and Lee Carroll made the final score 1 - 8. Kingburns man of the match award went to Mike Payne for an excellent all round performance. |
