After a game which was 'end-to-end' throughout, Filey managed to take
the points, with a second half header from Richard Ossai. They had gone
into an early 2-0 lead with goals from Ryan Marsh, and Jack Ferguson; but then
gave away a soft own goal after a defensive mix-up. Ryan Marsh restored the
2 goal advantage, but Sutton Trust raised their game and pulled one back
just before half-time.
Sutton Trust had the better of the second half and soon got a deserved equaliser. Ossai's goal came from a corner with about 20 minutes to go, and Sutton went all out for a second equaliser. They hit the post and the bar, and Jamie Haxby in the Filey goal made several excellent saves. In the end the defence held firm to secure the 2 points. This was a tremendous advert for Junior football, with both sides giving 100% and played in an excellent spirit. Sutton's man-of-the match was Andy Morris who had a very strong game in the centre of defence; and their goals came from Lee Parker (who caused a lot of problems for Filey's defence with his skill and pace) and Sam Black. Jamie Haxby was Filey's man-of-the match with another outstanding game in goal. |
