Motabitz sponsored East Hull Utd,were made to battle for the two points
by a
determined Cott side on a glue pot picth.With little to chose between
the
sides ,Cott took the game to East hull ,but Utds defence marshalled by
captain Welsh and Danny Morriss held out ,and broke to score with
Thompson
netting on 10 mins .Cottingham responded with the two big strikers
causing
Utd problems with their long ball tatics , they soon equalised when the
referee ,allowed play to continue despite 3 Cott players all in offside
posistions ,1-1.East Hull responded with Smith and Brown exerting the
pressure in midfield ,hitting the bar Thompson ,then the post ,when
Cott took
the lead with a fine goal ,from the big striker .With Utd making two
substitutions on 25 mins ,with injuries to Morriss and Wiseman ,East
Hull
responded, with Bailey and Cracknell on for Utd, these two transformed
the
game for Utd,Emson showed his versatility by slotting in at centre half
,and
Utd started to play their best football in the last quater,Atkinson was
a
menace on the left flank,setting up Thompson for the equaliser,2-2 half
time.
East Hull tok the game to Cott ,and Brown fired home Utds third ten mins into the half,2-3.Then sub Cracknell hit a screamer to take it to 2-4,but Cott would not give in and they netted to take the score to 3-4,with both teams playing in a sporting manner it was end to end stuff ,when with 5 mins remaining Cracknell finished Cott off with a superb goal to hit his second and Utds 5th,final score 3-5 to Utd. Manager Karl Stewart,"Credit to both teams on playing the game in a sporting manner ,the 5 week lay off clearly showed ,and the injuries early in the 1st half did not help us but when your top you want to stay there and the team responded superbly to the Cott challenge ,well done lads !
