Howden gained their second win of the season with a convincing team performance.
Throughout the match Howden's back four of Sam Wardale, Lynden Theaker, Danny Murphy and
Michael Stubbs defended well and kept Swanland's chances to a minimum. Midfielders Stephen
Thompson and Neil Hunter gave the Howden strikers good service and some superb finishing
by Jamie Jackson led to his hat- trick by half time. Swanland's perseverance did pay off
in this half with a goal, making the score 3 - 1 at the interval.
Playing against the wind and uphill in the second half, Howden had to increase their first half work rate. Again midfield provided extra effort with newcomers Kane Walton on the left and Liam Theaker on the right continuing to improve. Swanland never gave up battling and were denied a couple of chances by Howden's keeper Danny Beck. More excellent finishing by Jackson, coupled with Adam Curley's determination, gave both strikers two goals each in the second half making a final score of 7 -1. The 'Aquarius of Howden' Man of the Match, chosen from the back four who were in such good form was Danny Murphy, who in particular, never put a foot wrong. Team: 1. D Beck, 2. S Wardale, 3.
