With two regulars missing and a bare squad of 11 Juniors faced an uphill task at high
flying Willerby. The start of the game belied all the facts as Goole sailed into a 3-0
lead in all of 15mins through Barker 2 and Vause. Wanderers were stung into action and
pounded the Goole goal despite great work by Brown and Crisp they pulled two goals back
before the break. Willerby would have been level but for an amazing save by Mcmahon just
before the interval.
In the second half Willerby dominated with a stiff breeze and sailed into a 5-3 lead partly due to a penalty award. Goole tired but defended stoutly and could take some comfort from the effort and detrmination not to crumble. Wanderers goals were scored by B Johnson 2 M Johnson 1 Jamie Taylor and Rob Hall. |
