Kingburn took the initiative straight from the kick off and pressurised Hedon. The
pressure paid off when five minutes into the game Lee Carrol dummied past two defenders
and slipped the ball to Michael Johnston who's shot brought a fine save from Richard
Lamplough the Hedon keeper but the ball fell back to Johnston and he made no mistake with
his second attempt. Lamplough made some excellent saves to keep Kingburn at bay but
fifteen minutes later Johnston turn of pace took him through the Hedon defence to score
his second. Just before half time whistle a slick pass from James Wright resulted in a
thunderous shot from Johnston straight into the back of the net. Half time score 3-0
Richard Lamplough now playing in midfield seemed to rejuvenate Hedon who now took the game to Kingburn. Their constant pressure paid off when James Hampton powered the ball past the diving Kingburn keeper. A defiant Kingburn defence and good goalkeeping kept Hedon at bay and fifteen minutes later Kingburn were awarded a free kick twenty five yards out. Nicky Thacker floated the ball into the box and up poped Johnston to glance the ball into the net for his forth goal and secure the win for Kingburn. Final score 4 - 1 to Kingburn. Kingburns man of the match was Lee Carroll for a great all round performance. |
