  Under 11 Drypool Season 2001-2002

28/10/01 Elloughton Tigers 0 St. Andrews PBC 7
One word: Woeful!

After a week lay off to recover from our first defeat of the season, hopes were high that we could bounce back against what would be, a strong St. Andrews side. Indeed for the first few minutes signs were good although it rapidly went from bad to worse! Four goals conceded in the first half without reply left us in a similar situation to that we had faced last fixture. However the second half fight back never came. We did make more of a game of it although rarely threatened the visitor’s goal.

A further three goals conceded in the second half saw us suffer our worst ever defeat. Our cause not being helped when we lost Steve Gibbons, sent off midway through the 2nd period for a stamping offence and further losing Craig Scott through injury without a substitute left five minutes from time. Little positives can be said: Not only was our football poor, we lacked heart and passion to our game. St. Andrews exploited this and we got what we deserved; a 0-7 home defeat. Ahmed Hussain took the votes for man of the match from both the parents and the players. One of the few who could be relatively pleased with his efforts.

Team: Cross, Domney (sub: Shaw), Mortimer, Brownlee (sub: Walker), Wilson, Scott, McCune, Gibbons, Watkin, Arksey, Hussain.
