On a wet and soggy pitch Kingburn Tigers played Cherry Burton in the u14's Drypool
league. Due to injury Kingburn fielded only 10 men but from the kick off took the game
to Cherry Burton and after only 5mins an excellent chip from Mike Johnston drifted over
the keeper and into the net 0 - 1 to Kingburn. 5 mins later Lee Carroll headed in from a
corner for Kingburns second. A long clearance from Adam Cole bounced over the Cherry
Burton defence for Johnston to run onto and beat the keeper 0 - 3. Just before half time
Cherry Burton scored when an unfortunate back pass ended with James Chadburn putting the
ball into the back of the net half time score 1 - 3.
Cherry Burton pressurised the Kingburn defence and twice hit the cross bar before Chadburn who was a constant threat scored to make it 2 - 3. An untimely tackle gave Cherry Burton a penalty and up stepped Chadburn to slot it passed the keeper giving him hat trick 3 - 3. With 10 mins to go Kingburn brought on James Wright who made an immediate impact when an excellent run and cross from Mike Wise ended with Wright rounding the keeper and scoring the winning goal. A gritty and excellent performance gave James Pallant Kingburns man of the match. |
