SPORTING TRIUMPH OVER RANGERS IN LOCAL DERBY
On a very heavy wet pitch current under 12 myton leaders Hessle Sporting took on strong opposition Hessle Rangers in the local Derby. Sporting started stronger of the two and narrowly missed with two early well taken shots. Sporting were first to score with a well taken shot from Ryan Kendall to be followed within a few minutes with an equalising goal from Rangers. Sporting continued to pressure Rangers defence and this finally paid of with another well taken goal by Gareth Wray after a nice one two move from Matthew Phillips and Gareth Wray. Rangers applied more pressure towards half time and had a couple of near misses but Sportings defence held firm until the interval. The second half saw a different Sporting side who made the ball do the work and played some attractive football which can only be described as an excellent team performance with a third goal coming from Josh Lambert who came on during the second half following illness. The fourth goal also coming from Josh Lamberts cross to the near post and the final goal of the game from Matthew Phillips who had an outstanding game on the left side. Sportings new signing Lewis Hobley played his first full match in excellent form but over all credit must go to the full team. |
