Kingburn dominated from the kick off but it took 20mins before they cracked Springhead's
defence. Bret Cooper chipped the ball over Springhead's defence for Mike Johnston to run
onto he stumbled in the box but Lee Carroll followed up and slotted the ball into the net.
Constant pressure paid off when 10 mins later Kingburn's Johnston ran 25 yards with the
ball and chipped the keeper to make it 2 - 0. The Springhead keeper made a fine save but
unfortunately it fell at Johnston's feet and he powered the ball into the net to make the
half time score 3 - 1.
The first 20mins of the second half was more evenly matched but Kingburn's substitute James Wright Slotted in a rebound off the keeper 4 - 1. A second goal from Wright and a well placed shot from Nicky Thacker made it 6 - 0. Johnston completed his hat trick to make it 7 - 0. Springhead battled on but Kingburn's solid defence of Ashley Hunt, Bret Cooper (man of the match), Mark Scott and Mike Payne kept them out until an untimely tackle gave Springhead a penalty which was calmly slotted away final score 7 - 1. |
