Right from the kick off Kingburn pressurised the defence and within 2mins had won a
corner. From a crowded penalty area Lee Carroll headed the ball into the net for
Kingburn's 1st. Two mins later Kingburn's Michael Johnston ran onto a through ball and
slipped the ball past the keeper. An excellent defence splitting pass from Ashley Hunt
gave Johnston his 2nd. A long ball from the keeper and a shot from Jamie Wright made it
0-4, Johnston got his hat trick when he ran onto a ball from Jamie Wright and thumped
it into the back of the net. A late challenge gave Swanland a penalty and Neil Lancaster
tucked it away in the bottom right corner to make the score 1 - 5. Two more goals from
Johnston and a superb run and thunderous shot from Robert Adamson made the half-time
score 1-8.
With the wind now on their side Swanland looked a much stronger side and were a more even match for Kingburn, but excellent defending from Mark Scott, Brett Cooper, Michael Payne and Ashley Hunt kept them at bay. A defensive error let Kingburn's unstoppable Johnston (man of the match) in for his 6th goal final score 1 - 9. |
