At a windswept Pickering High School, Hessle Sporting Club Under 11's B entertained top of the Drypool league
and unbeaten Thorngumbald Celtic. In an exciting game where the ball went from end to end, both teams played
some good football in the difficult conditions. Thorngumbald took the lead half way through the first half with
a well taken goal. Hessle equalised with a goal from Thomas Jackson just before half time to leave both sides
level at 1-1 at the interval.
Thorngumbald started the second half strongly and used the strong wind to their advantage. They quickly scored 3 goals. Hessle never gave up and fought back strongly. After a strong break down the right wing, Scott Hookham was fouled in the penalty area. Up stepped Hessle's leading goalscorer, Sion Atkinson, who coolly put away the penalty to leave the final score at 4-2 to Thorngumbald. Outstanding performances for Hessle were Man of the Match, Louis Codd and Sion Atkinson.
