Filey hadn't played a match for 2 weeks and it showed in their sluggish performance against Thorpe Park Celtic.
Celtic were well organised and defended in depth and denied the Filey strikers any space without causing too many
problems in attack. The first half was mainly played in a congested midfield with defences well on top.
The second half continued with much of the same, until Richard Ossai finally broke the deadlock with a lose range shot. Thorpe Park continued to contain and missed a couple of chances themselves, before Lalan Flynn made the game safe for Filey with 5 minutes to go with a deflected shot. Filey had to work very hard for their points, and this is probably a good thing after several very easy victories. They were not at thier best but Matthew Gill and lalan Flynn both worked very hard to keep the team going. Credit to both sides for an entertaining game played in an excellent spirit. |
