For the second week running a late venue change saw us end up playing at Brough School.
The pattern for the day was set as early as the fifth minute when a Mark Shaw shot rattled
into the back of the net. From then on it seemed to be a matter of how many rather that
whether we would win or not. To describe each goal would take pages, as a further seven
goals were added before half time. 2 each from Ben Watkin and Matty Hatfield along with
solo efforts from Dane Mortimer, Thomas Brownlee and Ben Walker. Ben registering his first
goal for the club when calmly arriving at the far post to slide the ball home. Half time
score 8 - 0.
The second half was more of the same. True we should have probably registered many more as for every attempt on goal there was a queue of white shirts waiting to strike the final ball (too many cooks, I think the saying goes!). Still we did manage to add further goals, 1 more from Ben Watkin and 2 more for Thomas Brownlee as they both completed their hat-tricks and a single goal from Craig Scott. Credit where due, South Cave never threw in the towel but in all honesty, they rarely got over halfway such was our domination. Final Score 13 - 0. Ben Watkin won the parents’ vote for Man of the Match whilst Thomas Brownlee took the players’ MoM. Team: McCune, Domney, Mortimer, Brownlee, Wilson (sub: Scott), Hussain, Walker, Arksey (sub: Hardaker), Shaw, Watkin, Hatfield Scorers: (Brownlee 4, Watkin 3, Hatfield 2, Shaw, Mortimer, Walker, Scott) |
