  Under 15 Myton Season 2001-2002

25/11/01 St Andrews 3 West Hull Rovers 1
The first half of this game is best forgotten. There was little quality or goalmouth action, and the only real attempts at goal came from free kicks given away by the WHR defence on the edge of their area. The WHR keeper had no trouble with the resulting 'shots' at goal.

The second half was entirely different to the first. WHR made a substitution at the beginning of the half, and this immediately changed the game. WHR took the game to SA, and could have gone ahead on a couple of occasions. From one of SA counter attacks, a forward took a hopeful shot from 20 yards out. Unfortunately for WHR, the keeper took his eye off the ball, and it went straight through his hands into the net. 1-0. Shortly after this, the WHR defence were opened up by a through ball. The SA forward ran through and put the ball over the advancing WHR keeper. 2-0. Not long after the second goal, when WHR had got back into the game again, a SA midfielder ran through the defence and put a ball across the goalmouth that was missed by the keeper and the defenders. An unmarked SA forward ran onto the ball and put it into the top of an almost empty net. 3-0. WHR went back on the attack, and eventually won a free kick on the edge of the SA area. The shot from the free kick could only be helped into the net by the SA keeper. 3-1 WHR continued to attack, but SA held out to get the 2 points.
