Spartans included new signing Tom Cross who showed what a great asset he is going to be
for the team. From the start Spartans pressed forward and created a number of chances.
It came as no surprise when Spartans took the lead from a corner when Cross found the net
with a close range header. Spartans soon added a second through Lapworth but to their
credit Preston pushed forward and pulled a goal back. Spartans though were playing some
flowing football and creating numerous chances of which 5 more goals were added to give
them a 7 - 1 interval lead.
The second half saw the home team again taking the game to the visitors and unlike previous matches when the second half performances had tailed off, they carried on for the full 80 minutes scoring on a further 13 occasions and conceeding only once more to finish off a resounding victory. Managers comments:- The team played some superb football today and fully deserved this emphatic victory. We must carry on with performances like this for the remainder of the season starting with next Sundays friendly fixture against Filey Boys. Scorers:- Lapworth 7, Cross 4, Hall 3, Barry 2, Cruddas 2, Green 1, OG 1. |
