Kingburn u 14 played North Cave for the second week running, this time in the knock out
cup. Within 2mins James Pallant chipped the ball over Caves defence for Mike Johnston
to power the ball into the net. Almost immediately Cave replied with an identical goal.
Lee Carroll headed in from a corner to put Kingburn back into the lead 2 - 1. Kingburn
went 3 - 1 ahead when Mike Wise ran onto a through ball from Mark Scott and chipped the
ball over the keeper, half time score 3 - 1.
A tackle from behind gave Cave a penalty but an excellent save by Adam Cole kept the score at 3 - 1. Cave's forwards were always a threat but excellent defending by Rob Adamson, Mark Scott, Mike Payne and Brett Cooper kept them under wraps. A Bounce over Caves defence left Johnston in the clear for goal number 4. Kingburn were awarded a free kick and Nicky Thacker floated the ball into the box for Cooper to head it passed the diving Cave keeper 5 - 1. Johnston scored at his second attempt to give him his hat trick and make the final score 6 - 1. Kingburns man of the match went to the back four of Adamson, Scott, Payne and Cooper. |
