Gala played host to Middleton AFC from the 3rd division in a 1st round
Cup
game.
The home team quickly showed that they meant business when Thompson put
them
ahead after only 5 minutes. The expected goal rush failed to
materialise as
Middleton thwarted Gala's many attacks. But as so often happens, three
further goals by Gala in only ten minutes, two by Thompson and one from
Adams, set the game up for the home side to lead by four at the
interval.
It took Gala a quarter of an hour to further breach Middletons defence
when
Walker scored a spectacular 40 yard goal. Gala were in full flow now
and
Adams was denied a goal when he was brought down in the area, he duly
took
the penalty himself and scored to make it six without reply. It was all
Gala
now and three further goals from Thompson, the last a powerful free
kick,
made it nine. It was left to the impressive Adams to get his hatrick to
give
the visitors a sobering 10-0 defeat.
The star of the show was six goal Thompson, aided by three goal Adams.
The
whole team played well with Giblin catching the eye with a hard working
performance.
